It may only be October right now, but you can feel the change that’s in the air. It’s like the seasons have immediately skipped from summer to winter! We’ve been used to the hot weather for so long that this may have taken you off guard. Well, the only thing you can do is prepare yourself for the long cold haul through the rest of the year. Here are the best ways that you can make sure that you keep warm as you ride out the winter months.
Warm Cuddly Clothes
Okay, so this is a bit of an obvious one. Wearing clothes that will keep you warm are the first barrier you are going to set up against the cold. It doesn’t matter if you’re at home, on a business trip or out on a date with one of the most professional escorts in Earls Court, you still need to dress up in layers to keep out the cold. The best thing that you can wear is thermal vests, especially if it is snowing or hailing, as they can be hidden underneath your clothes. They are there to keep an extra layer of heat in, especially if you’re in a cold environment.
Obviously, when you are out on the town in winter, you can wear coats, woolly clothes, jumpers, woollen socks or cardigans. But when you go home, don’t be scared to wrap up in a dressing gown, winter poncho or slippers. Some dressing gowns even come with hoods, making them the perfect thing to wear when you finish taking your evening shower. That will keep you warm throughout the evening.
Check your heating systems
Another important thing you need to check before winter fully strikes is your heating system. The last thing that you want to experience is your heating system breaking down when you’re in the middle of a snowstorm or at least an extremely cold winter. Your heating provider is probably going to be swamped with calls complaining about boilers breaking down and the lack of hot water. That’s why you need to make sure to have your heating system checked as early as possible to make sure that it’s working. You can also inspect your chimneys to make sure that there is nothing flammable stuck within them. After all, you may want to use your fireplace this winter!
Keep your temperature consistent
To add to our previous point, it’s also important to keep your house at a stable temperature. If you’re staying inside all day, make sure to keep your temperature around 24 C. You can also set the rest of your house at around 18 C. From there, you can keep checking on your thermostat to make sure that the temperature is consistent throughout the day.
Hot Water Battles & Electric Blankets
One of the most simple, and cost-effective, ways to keep warm is to purchase a hot water bottle. You can use it under your clothes or you can place it in your bed so that the blankets are toasty for when you go to bed. You may also want to try out electric blankets if you are experiencing an extremely bad cold spell. However, keep in mind that these can be flammable, so make sure that you don’t leave them on for too long!
Keep Active
Whilst it can be tempting to just stay in your pj’s and under your blankets, all day, not all of us can afford that luxury. That’s why it’s important to keep active throughout the day. This could be doing exercise in your own home, or just moving around the house to do the chores. You can also go out once you’re bundled up and go for a walk before taking a moment to enjoy the comfort of a nearby cafe or pub.
Keep safe in the winter period!
Winter is a dangerous time of year for those who are old or are suffering from an illness. That’s why it’s extremely important to keep yourself bundled up through out the season. It’s easy to keep warm, especially if there is snow in your way, just remember that if the conditions do get dangerous, stay indoors with your family and friends. That way you can feel safe and warm in the company of the people you love.
Have a happy winter!
